Basic Wine Store is a pared-back wine shop and bar on the ground floor of Arcoris in Mont Kiara. The range is built around organic, biodynamic and low-intervention wines from small independent growers, much of it brought in by importer Corevino, and press coverage puts the shelf at around 150 bottles from some 30 producers. House pours change regularly, and any bottle on the shelf can be taken home.
The kitchen turns out European-style comfort food meant for sharing: pâté, calamari, pasta, cold cuts and tinned seafood on toast, plus off-menu seasonal specials. There is an al fresco area out front as well as counter and bar seating inside, and the shop hosts guest winemaker tastings.
It suits drinkers who want to explore natural wine without ceremony, and Mont Kiara residents after a relaxed glass and a plate.
Small bars fill up fast on Friday and Saturday nights. Book ahead where you can.
