La Cave is a small French wine bar in Sai Ying Pun, founded by wine importer Mathieu Grasser and seating about a dozen. The list covers French whites, rosés, reds and natural wines from Burgundy, Champagne, the Rhône, Alsace and Bordeaux, with featured estates such as Domaine Deveney-Mars and Domaine de Marcoux.
The food is simple French snacking: cheese, charcuterie and toasties. Bottles can be bought through the online shop, and the bar hosts private events, classes and tastings.
It suits drinkers who like a no-fuss neighbourhood bar with good French bottles and a self-described 'grumpy' owner.
Small bars fill up fast on Friday and Saturday nights. Book ahead where you can.
